The Pink and White Terraces revisited:
Background
Like a lot of Kiwis I have had a life long interest in the aftermath and fate of the Pink and White Terraces and been sceptical about the beliefs of there fate.
I believe that The White Terraces are still there and may have been awarded the same protection that the Pink terraces were offered.
I also believe that the powerpoint shows and discussions I have initiated along with relative photos built up over the last ten years have initiated enough interest to promote this long overdue GNS profile.
November 2002 I initiated my own research programme.
The Department of Conservation issued a long term low impact study permit.
The Maori Trust gave their permission to carry out a study on their land.
The Tenon Forestry group granted access to lake Rotomahana for my Yacht ," ROCK'N ROLL'N".
Most of the people I approached were firmly in the belief that the Terraces had been destroyed during the eruption.
As I progressed with my research, a lot of evidence that I found led to prove that their existance became obvious and that The Pink and White Terraces still existed. Their condition and whereabouts has now been partly scientificly accepted.
Unfortunately up until now the misconception that they had been blown sky high was easier to believe for most than to except the correct findings.
I have tried to convert a lot of people over the years with my way of thinking that the Terraces still exist but have come up to the following barriers.
Most scientists tended to believe the written word and therefore my data was not obtained in a scientific manner.
This has now been proven incorrect and History will have to be rewritten.
Most researchers and writers do not want to rewrite their work and they would not look further and would not look seriously at my work. Either they were to busy or not interested.
I have a proposed Map of the lake and surrounding area. It maybe subject to finer detail adjustments but was drawn with proofs to back up my findings.These findings include the most contraversal findings being Post Eruption Lake Heights.
